In honor of International Women’s Day, the Maritime Sikh Society (MSS) in Halifax today hosted a landmark celebration of its pioneering legacy. Rooted in the spiritual guidance of Gurbani, MSS made history in 1992 by electing the first All-Women Executive in the Sikh Diaspora—a feat repeated three more times since.
​The event honored six past female presidents and marked the release of an exclusive edition of its newsletter, Maritime Sikhs, documenting the society’s role in championing women’s leadership and highlighting the glorious past of Sikh history. A delegation from the Department of Religious Studies, SaintFX attended to witness this testament to equality. By empowering women, MSS continues to turn the Gurus' vision of social justice into a living reality.
